Neighbourhood Watch
In April 2007 the Denbighshire Neighbourhood Watch County Association disbanded.
STARS NORTH WALES, a charity with similar aims and objectives to Neighbourhood Watch were the beneficiaries of the assets owned by the DNHWCA. The Charity Commission have confirmed that DNHWCA is no longer operational and its charity number has been dissolved. We are keen to stress that this has not been a take over of Neighbourhood Watch by STARS and we are mindful that we do not impose ourselves on established watches in the county.
STARS are keen to work in close partnership with Neighbourhood watch and are happy to provide any support that might now be missing. We would be happy to act as a single point of contact for enquiries, to arrange and facilitate coordinators meetings, to promote existing watches and encourage the growth of new schemes. We will however take your advice on guidance on whether you see us fitting in to the existing structures.
This web site provides some back ground information on STARS which we hope you have found beneficial. It also provides you with information to make a decision on how STARS can best support your work.
We have recently distributed surveys to all the existing coordinators on the data base which was transferred to us.
Summary of results
We are currently in the process of arranging a series of meetings across Denbighshire, inviting all coordinators to discuss any issues with us. ( list the meetings, times and venues).
We will be providing a power point presentation on our services and how we see ourselves supporting your work. With you, we would like to identify a way forward for Neighbourhood Watch, giving it a strong, powerful and effective presence in all our communities. We are able to provide numerous training courses which would be of benefit to your members and have resources which we are willing to invest in publicity and development.
Our offer of support is backed by Denbighshire Community Safety Partnership and has strong support from both the Local Authority and North Wales Police.
Please take time to consider how we can be of benefit to you and your members and contact us with your ideas. This will enable us to determine which parts of Denbighshire require additional resources, whether it is training, publicity or new schemes.
